This is our first equal-in collaboration between me and my longtime college friend Benjamin Richards. After reconnecting a couple years ago after 20 years or so, I played and recorded drums for a track Benjamin wrote called Another Line, pt 2. It was so much fun we decided to start collaborating remotely to write some songs together. This song started more as a proof of concept on how to approach remote songwriting, mixing, and producing. a bass line was first. then I riffed on drums over that bass loop, found some good beats, and we had a foundation. Benjamin then did some guitar work and we worked out the song structure. Finally, I re-recorded three separate drum tracks (one just cymbals) and some Rhodes parts, Benjamin did the lyrics, we tossed the mix back and forth, made a few production decisions, and DONE! It was so much fun, we are working on a second piece that will lean ambient; Benjamin is leading this next project and I will be doing some advising, percussion , and sound fx. We recorded and mixed in Logic Pro, in both Denver, CO and Atlanta GA. Thanks for listening! Hope you enjoy.
